Kurl’s latest komment

ROSS from the Ibis Caravan Park and Robin Algie were stopped having a chat in front of the post office last week. I’m sure that if they have more time, they could solve the world’s problem, those two.

Ross has had the caravan park and cabins for quite a while now and is never (or maybe rarely) too busy for a chat. Mr Algie is an esteemed member of the Kerang Clay Target Club and, I remember now, played a bit of basketball back in the day. Wow, that’s going back, Rob.


That young fella Peter Doyle was out with his family having a lovely meal at the Tavern last Saturday night. I say young fella ’cause he looks fit enough to still be playing footy.

I bet that Cohuna coach Neil Bradley would love to have him playing in the current team as he was back in the day. As it is, Bricky would be pretty happy with Peter’s son, Patrick, having a run with the Kangas.


While talking Cohuna footy, it’s been a while since I’ve caught up with Riley Hird now that the Cohuna cricket no longer heads over to Kerang.

Been keeping a bit of an eye on the footy and Riley has been snagging a few.

Didn’t see how he went in Saturday’s big game against Kerang, but Riley would have had a real crack against the Blues.


Another talking point in local footy circles is that former Kerang premiership player and former Geelong star, Darren Troy, has been appointed as the Raider’s new coach. Think they’d be pretty happy with that.

Last week’s Raider’s Reserves team as named on “fakebook” was interesting. Berv Lake would have been upset that she didn’t get to start on the ground and swapping Rob McCaig to the back flank and Wes O’Neill to the forward flank may have been a more productive option. It was a great team. One local supporter thought that Swan Hill were going to forfeit once they saw the team.


Speaking of knees, Nola Wright had her knee fixed up the other week, so she hasn’t been at work. Lefty has work covered, but Nola said that retraining Lefty to do the housework is more of a pain than the knee.

Nola is very grateful that the girls are still home.


Having a bit of a look at the Koondrook-Barham footy results and noticed that Matt Dean had kicked a goal in the seniors. Matt has formerly been a gun half b

ack for the Raiders over quite a few years.

It was also noticed that he was mentioned in the best for the Reserves as well.

Reckon Matt said his plan at the start of the year was to ease back and just play reserves. Always the club man, he is doing what he can to help.


Stace is off glamping again.

It was once stated that he had retired, and we got into a bit of trouble over that as his family knew nothing of this retirement. Maybe it was a case of Terry just wishing he was retired.

Hope the old bloke is doing ok.
