Another bloomin’ mechanic is retiring. Adrian Moore, who has been a mechanic for about 55 years, has decided to pull the pin from Scrivo’s Consolidated Industries.
They held a bit of a do for Moorey last Friday.
Congratulations, Adrian, it’s been a great service you have done for Scrivo and the town.
Alana Barrer has had her knee op and would like to be able to get up and do something. Any strenuous activity apart from physio is probably out, but I reckon Alana will be seen around supporting the Wandella netballers.

Paddy Doyle called his first full race meeting over the weekend, in Mildura.

Des Shelley is only about seven or eight matches away from umpiring his 800th match. I happened to catch up with the young fella while he was goal umpiring the Kerang-Koondrook/Barham match with fellow stirrer ‘Honest’ Ken Strachan.
It was funny watching these two. Neither wanted to walk all the way to the centre to check the scores (saving energy), so they shouted cheek at one another, and eventually got the scores sorted out.
So it will be into the finals when Des notches up the milestone. Good luck, mate.
The central umpires in the aforementioned match did an excellent job on June 25. Seems a long while ago. Brent Howden was being supported by Geoff McIvor, who has played a bit of footy in his day, and an unknown umpire.
Howdy has been umpiring for a while and we caught up later that week to discuss the match. Brent loves his footy and is doing a great job in keeping the umpires up and about.
Geoff McIvor hasn’t been umpiring for that long as he spent his younger days as a top line local footballer, but he should do it for a while longer, as he is doing well.
It’s interesting with that bye weekend of July 2 that both CMFNL and GRFNL had. Not too sure why that was slipped in there.
Rather than interrupt the season with a week off, I would have thought that starting the season one week later or finishing the season one week earlier may have been a more logical option.
Either way, it doesn’t matter, and we will all look forward to the finals, which will be on us before we know it.
Nick Kyrgios got the easy ticket into the Wimbledon final from Raffa. Like him or hate him, the bloke can play a bit.
Personally, I don’t care if he plays up, it doesn’t bother me too much, but I do like to watch him play.
Saw Keith Jacobs driving past the other day. Didn’t get a chance to catch up for a chat, but my thoughts went to his footy tipping. Is Tammy still doing it for you Jake?
