This week’s Komment by Kurl

Tyler Wilson and family welcomed their second child in late August, Chloe.

He’s has been managing the tyre place for about three months now and is pretty busy with work and family.

Staff Kyle, Jamie and Luke are putting their hand up at the tyre centre, but Tyler is still like a lizard drinking.

All the best, folks.

While at the Speed field days a couple of months back, a bloke walked past and the thought was “Geez, I know that bloke”.

Thought I’d better say g’day, and it turned out to be a former footballing opponent Tim Rowe. Still looking fit enough to get a kick, Tim played a bit of footy for Macorna back in the late 70s and early 80s and is currently working for Wade Humphries at Access Grain out at Nully.

While we were chatting, some other Nully folk came up and, of course, we solved all local footballing problems.

Victorian kids were back at school last week and the NSW kids hit the books this week. Hope they all had a good break and are completely enthused and looking forward to another wonderful term of lessons, learning and laughter.

Caught up with Smiley Anderson the other day and he is pretty happy with Collingwood’s effort over the past season.

Smiley isn’t a one-eyed supporter and believes the Pies could have won it, but he does think that Moore copped it in the back and should have received a free kick. And the Wayne Harmes ball was definitely ‘out’ too Smiley.

Another Collingwood bloke that Kurl hadn’t seen for a while was Max Maclean. Satisfied with the Pies’ efforts, Max now spends his time looking after grandkids (is there a better occupation?) and washing cars.

Max and Lee’s son, Brad, has had another go at the Gympie Muster. Hope I can find it on line as it’s always a good laugh.

Cricket is meant to be getting under way this coming Saturday but the weather may have a bit to say about that.

It would be great to see another team or two come into the comp, and there were a few rumours going around that this could happen.

Murrabit won all three competitions last year and will be tough to beat in the coming season.

Super-coach Matt Chamberlain got his Wandella Under 14.5’s over the line in the 2022 GRFL grand final.

Brother Chocky was seen at the footy supporting the family, and there’s probably every chance that Chum’s son Jasper will inherit the Chamberlain love of the game.

In about five or six years, the Wandella seniors will have a great base to work from with the local youth coming to the fore.

Kerang had all three footy teams in the grand final in what was an excellent effort by the club and claimed the senior flag. The reserves didn’t miss by much but just needed a bit of a spark.

The colts were defeated by a pretty classy team in Lake Boga, who were coached by former Wandella bloke Blake Anderson.

Having defeated Lake Boga in the second semi, Kerang were in with a chance, but the Boga lads proved too strong.
