The local hotels and clubs will all be seeing a bit more action with Christmas season and of course the brilliant Boxing Day races held by the Kerang Turf Club.

Bowls Australia regional bowls manager for western Victoria, Stephen ‘Rowdy’ Arthur, and his pairs partner, Brian Mansbridge, made it into the round of 16 at the Vic Open Pairs.
It was at this level that they were knocked out. Tough luck, Rowd, but keep rollin’ big fella.

Former B&F, leading goalkicker and all-round good guy Tyler Jones is back at Leitchville-Gunbower for the 2023 footy season.
The Bombers have a fair way to go to get back up the top where they belong, but Tyler gives them a pretty good start. All the best to the Bombers.

Caught up with Mr Jimmy Clark in the street the other day, and poor old Jimmy wold have been busy with all the insurance stuff.
I’m sure Jim will be doing his very best to help out any farmers who have had trouble with crops.

Had a bit of a chat to old workmate Wally Keighran as well. Yep, sometimes it seems that’s all I do is bloomin’ talk – just ask Chum.
Wally is a proud dad of his three boys who have all escaped home and are doing very well for themselves.
He was riding around on one of those fat-wheeled electric bikes. You know, Brendan, apparently you can program them so you expend X amount of energy per kilometre – or do you just have it on the ‘softest’ setting?

Cricket is now up and about in the Northern District Cricket Association with four teams competing – Kerang, Murrabit, Barham and Koondrook.
There was talk that a couple of extra teams may have been included this year but in the end, it would have placed a bit too much pressure on to chase players, so they stuck with the four teams.
Wandella have filled three senior grade teams in the Swan Hill competition and are currently doing pretty well.
Cohuna and Leitchville Gunbower are also performing well in the Echuca competition.
Great to see that cricket is still going strong.

Australian soccer claimed a big scalp last week when they knocked over Denmark in the World Cup.
That match put Australia into the final 16 which they also did in 2006, which is the furthest they have ever gone in the tournament.
It’s funny how some of us rarely follow soccer, but when the country is doing well, we all get in and support them.
The Aussie spirit, or is it just wanting to be associated with winners?
