New school will work like a charm

The Nullawil and Lake Charm Schools have been de-staffed for 2023 with the Lake Charm kids heading to Kerang Tech, Murrabit and Kerang South.

Not sure where the Nully kids went to but hope they all have a great year in their new schools.

Had a bit of a chat to a Barham golfing legend the other day and he insists that he must have two or three quiet ales prior to his round to steady the ‘yips’.

The former club champion says that two is not quite enough, but three makes for a pleasant day. Four would probably result in an excellent round.

I believe there is another former club champ that follows the same routine.

All the best and keep at it fellas – (the golf that is, not necessarily the pre-match routine).

Bit disappointing that names are missing from some dismissals on the NDCA cricket scores. All the scorers have to do is ask. It’s not as if they don’t meet each other that much, there are only four teams playing.

Hopefully all names are in from Saturday’s preliminary final.

The MyCricket program makes it all quite easy to score matches. So easy that by looking online, you can see for example that one Kerang batsman made 75 runs from 60 deliveries in the match against Barham on February 11.

He hit seven fours and seven sixes so he only scored from five other balls, and that’s if they were all singles.

So he also faced 41 balls that weren’t scored off. This doesn’t include no balls resulting in a free hit, or wides, but they are also indicated if you delve a bit further.

It was a pretty good innings that the MyCricket program highlights exceptionally well.

The friendly Pickering Transport driver that gets around Kerang has had his van taken off him. Mark is now driving a bigger truck that probably takes a bit longer to nip around the streets with and it also has a louder horn.

Thanks for scaring the living daylights out of me Mark.

Had a quick catch-up with Pete Colville last week and he was quick to have a crack at one driver who had missed his parking space by a foot or two but who was also involved in the conversation. Obviously a smile on the face from Pete.

Thought that the conversation was going in the direction of the folks that do U-turns across double lines in Victoria. See enough of that by heck.

There is a young magpie getting around town with some string tied to its feet. One local nature lover was attempting to help the bird but wasn’t quick enough.

It was a great effort that was most likely thwarted by an inattentive person walking the street.
