Kurl’s out and about this week

A bit of an isolated storm last Wednesday blew a few things around a bit in Marne Street, Kerang.

The main problem was that folks had to sort out whose bin was whose. Some bins had disappeared from a few front yards and needed to be tracked down. Some had moved three or four houses down.

With Nondies in the finals over in the Echuca cricket competition and Wandella also in the Swan Hill cricket finals, local cricket is in a pretty good way.

Plus there are quite a few former locals who are doing OK in their own competitions. One such ex-local in Liam Treacy who has been going pretty well in the Geelong association. Liam cracked a nice 50 the other week and took a five-for in the same match.

A bit of a gun with local connections, Zane Keighran is also doing pretty well in his chosen sport of cricket.

There have been a few burglaries around the district in recent weeks.

Wisharts was again targeted, with the thieves causing lots of damage. Are they doing this for notoriety or the money? Either way, a steeper punishment could help prevent a case or two.

Then there’s the Collingwood bloke who pleaded guilty to a serious crime and received no jail time. What! You’ve got to be joking? Clearly not joking as it is no joking matter, and that is just an exclamation, but this doesn’t seem right.

So the word got out that one bloke was delivering papers on Tuesday morning and happy to hand out a few freebies to locals. The only thing was that the duffer (for lack of a better description) was handing out the previous week’s papers.

Kurl will have to cop that sucker right on the chin. It is hard to get good help.

Headed to Benders, Bendigo, and the road at the Appin South turn off has had something done to it.

Now it’s a bit funny, as they would have spent heaps of time doing what was done, but it was noticed that the 40 signs are still in place.

Is that an admission that the job has not been done properly? I believe so.

Do something once, do it well, even if it is delivering the wrong papers.

Jye Arnold from Arnold Family Butchers in Boort entered a couple of products to see how they would go against the rest of the state in the AMIC National Sausage King Award.

They won in two sections in the state then went on to win two sections for the whole country: Best Continental Sausage, Jye’s Italian Casalinga and Short Cut Bacon in the country.

Congratulations to Jye and Kristy.
