Life at the old folks table

It was a pretty big get together over at Leitchville last week, sending off old mate George Keath.

A few folks travelled a fair distance to get there also – one from Katherine.

George was held in high regard. All the best to Dawn and family.

AFL starts on Thursday night. Most of us won’t be ready for it, but will still welcome it for sure.

So don’t forget that we need to get the footy tipping organised.

It’s a sad thing, but the world needs to be aware of Lego. Not just the pain of standing on a piece, but also little kids are quite skilled at whacking them up their nose. All the best to one local family – a trip to Bendigo was required.

Not too sure if we should say bloomin’ kids or bloomin’ Lego.

A former local couple who now live in Coffs Harbour have been down visiting friends and family in Victoria.

While they are away, another family couple from Barham have headed up to Coffs and are looking after their place.

The former Murrabit butcher has been busy having a few ales with friends and will obviously get back home and then need a rest.

Hope Linda and Phil are having a great time.

Speaking of family, there was a family engagement party a couple of weekends ago, and after checking in with everyone, we found ourselves on what would have to be considered the “old folks table”.

Time does go by, but I can remember when a few of us young ones were watching who we considered ‘old folk’ drink tea and play euchre on a card table way back when. The only thing is they were younger than we are now … but we weren’t drinking tea. Red wine and beer seemed to be the go to.

I’m sure we all remember and had our turn at the ‘kids’ table at family Christmas gatherings.

Life goes on.

Anyway, congrats Evana and Josh.

The Australian Test blokes have done better recently, and it could be the change of captain. Admittedly that would be up for discussion, but I wonder if the ACB will discuss, or just stick with Cummins, even though he may not be the best option.

Also, some folks still really dislike Smith, but is it a popularity contest? Just putting a few questions out there.

The Australian lady cricketers have shown that they are the most dominant team in world cricket and they are great to watch.

Ladies cricket as compared to men’s cricket, to me, is far better to watch than ladies footy compared to men’s footy – that’s just an opinion. And maybe ladies’ footy should get more support from ladies.

Easter is fast approaching and most towns in the area have some event on of significance.

Tennis or bowls tournaments take place in most centres and all clubs will be hoping for big crowds, as the crowds always seems to be over Easter.

We have a couple of weeks to go before that but we hope everyone can stay safe between now and then particularly those travelling on the local roads.
