Kurl’s out and abouts

I was walking down the street and spotted two lovely ladies trying to fold up a foldable table in front of the NAB.

These two girls were having a bit of trouble and you’d think it would be an easy task.

Turns out that you just about needed a pilot’s licence to fold the table up.

Well done to the ladies concerned.

A large group of cars participating in the Shitbox Rally blew through Kerang last Wednesday and stopped in at the Kerang car wash to spruce up their vehicles a bit.

The rally had to catch the Spirit of Tasmania that evening so they couldn’t stop for lunch or any shopping. The rally is travelling from Rockhampton to Hobart via the Artesian Basin and is raising money for cancer research.

It was noticed in the local footy tipping page that Bob Sutterby from the Exchange supports the Adelaide Crows.

Curious as to why, it turns out that as a young lad, Bob was doing the first year of Auskick and his dad said, “Pick a jumper”.

Liking the Crows colours, Bob grabbed a jumper and was pretty happy as a young fella when they won two flags in a row.

Thing is, I wonder how he is feeling now though? It’s been a lean few years, Bob.

A local bloke in Kerang, who has had a bit of trouble with his knee recently, tripped over a pallet out the back of his shop.

This little trip ensured his knee let him know to be more careful in the future.

The rest of the day was spent with a decent limp, and the office supplies won’t deliver themselves.

Then there was the bloke over in Koondrook who thought he’d be OK climbing up a ladder. Don’t you need a licence for that?

Anyway, it turns out that he had his long distance glasses on and couldn’t focus properly on the bottom step and missed it.

Seems it’s his shoulder that suffered. This could hinder his golf score this week.

Falling off ladders, tripping over pallets. Wonder if all this is a lack of coordination or an age thing?

A couple of weekends ago, there was a footy practice match that a Koondrook bloke wanted to have a bit of a look at, supporting a local team.

For some reason he thought the game was at Leitchville, where he was the only one that turned up. The bar wasn’t even open.

It turns out that the match was played at Lockington, so off he went. He got to see the second half at least, and the bar was open.

The lovely Pam, from Headmasters in Kerang, turned another year older just recently.

Turns out that it was a pretty important birthday. One of the milestone ones.

Must have been her 40th.

Happy birthday, Pam

The Cohuna Show had what was said to be a great turn-out at their event on Friday, March 17.

What is the cost of a dagwood dog nowadays anyway? Not as if it’s a full meal.

Did the dodgem cars cost $20 a ride? Back in the day when men were men and women were happy they were, it was less than $5. OK, I’m showing my age.

Speaking of age, there was some over 60s cricket matches played locally last week.

Matches were played at Koondrook, Leitchville, Gunbower and Cohuna.

Russell Bott, from Wandella, played for the Vic Country in a couple of the games, and local legend and former gun cricketer in his own right, John Hill umpired some of the matches in Koondrook.

Trev Treacy, from Cohuna, probably umpired a couple of games also I would guess.
