Chatting about footy

As I was walking the streets the other week, I got a bigger wave than usual from Jason Williams.

Now Willy would have been happy with his footy tipping efforts the week before as he tipped all nine. In the tipping contest in question that gives him an extra point, giving him 10 for the round, which saw him take the lead.

Good on you, Willy.

Caught up with Jason Brown a while back and of course we chatted about local footy. Browny has been a bit of a gun for Macorna and needs only four more games to rack up 200 with the club.

Great work, Jase, but they’re getting a pretty good reserves team out at Macorna. Think the club will insist that you spend a bit of time on the track prior to playing. All the best, Jason, you better not put it off too long.

Had a gander at the Wandella versus Murrabit headspace match on April 29 and it was one of the biggest crowds I’d seen at Bomberland since finals were played there. Crusty and I nearly had to park half way to Kerang.

It was good to see a couple of teams that hadn’t won a match have a desperate crack. It finally clicked for the Bombers who had a good win.

Also of interest in the Reserves match was Scratcher playing his first Reserves game in about 40 years, and he just happened to be playing on his old foe Nats Henry.

These two have played more footy on each other than a lot of people play games.

Morto had a good game and got the Headspace award in the two’s, with Tim Robbo getting the nod in the Seniors.

It should be mentioned that in the reserves, Wandella’s Waddy had a crack at a torp. It seems like this could be a once per week attempt at a big tube. Anyway, it didn’t work. If teammates see him line up for the torp, I’d suggest you position yourself well out to his right.

But Waddy, all you need is one to work for the year. Keep at it.

So Victoria Street has lost some car parks for a while as repairs to drainage etc are being carried out.

Hopefully no one will complain too much about this as it has to be done. Perhaps walking a bit will do us good.

Parking in the Market Place in Bendigo, you have to walk further than a half block of Victoria Street, Kerang, and you do that just to get in the shop.

Let’s suck it up.

Hope that Victoria Street business owners and their staff don’t park in the street but leave space available for customers.

The two Dans at Sportpower in Kerang have initiated the Kerang Soccer Club, with a free training run held on Sunday mornings at 9am. Focusing on six to 13 year olds, the St Joe’s Oval is the place to go for a bit of a soccer fix.

If you are interested, get down there next Sunday.
