From footy to mock Coronation

Lefty has been kept pretty busy with his job looking after the Kerang reserves. Organising the board for coach Robbo and in charge of the rotations, the poor old fella is coping with the stress admirably.

Injuries to the senior players can sometimes leave Lefty a bit short in some spots, but that’s the way it goes in reserves footy.

The Kerang reserves have a couple of tough games coming up, which Lefty will be very keen to win.

Barham-Koondrook Cricket Club have had a meeting with the Swan Hill Association and will join that competition in 2023-24.

Not too sure at this stage if they will put in two B Grade teams or an A Grade and a B Grade team.

Either way, the club should continue to gain momentum as they have a strong junior competition that can hopefully continue to insert top quality players into the senior teams.

Murrabit and Kerang cricket clubs will also join that competition next year with details yet to be finalised.

A photo of the 1955 Yarrawalla premiership team from the Mitiamo District League has been placed in the window of Broad & McDonald, and it wasn’t Arthur that placed it.

Arthur features as a fresh-faced 15-year-old, in-and-under ball magnet, and the mascot just happens to be Max Grey, who a few years later ended up being a gun full back.

Great to see the old footy photos.

There are still “rough surface” signs in many places on local roads. Is this to prevent a lawsuit or something? Fix the roads.

At last there have been some “new limit” signs placed on Airport Road after the speed limit was dropped to 60km/h a few weeks ago.

Hope that everyone remembered Mother’s Day and treated their mum to something special.

If you forgot, swallow your pride and still treat your Mum to something special. It wouldn’t matter if you were six months too late, but don’t put it off until then.

A local couple and their daughters hammed it up for King Charles’ Coronation on May 6 with their own celebration.

The Coronation of Their Majesties King Chick I and Queen Gwen Dee, along with daughter Princess Jenny was conducted at Kerang, Victoria, and was officiated by daughter Wendy.

King Chick I is a proud Ten Pound Pom and it’s brilliant to see the family get involved.

However, there was no balcony to wave to the masses or concert following the ceremony, although son Robert was heard humming at work the following Monday.
