Photos in paper a fine look

Just wondering if the Kerang Football Netball Club has a fine system for every time a person gets their photo in the local paper?

If so, they will be making a bit of money from the May 23 edition when the front page featured Troy Coates’ 200th, Marty Kelly and Josh Nitschke’s 100th and Michael Dalrymple’s 50th.

After counting them up, 25 players, including a few from the reserves, should be contributing to the club’s coffers.

Just because your head is only partly visible should not get you out of any fines due.

Besides that, congratulations to those players reaching their personal milestones.

Last Tuesday, May 23, young Mark Gardiner ticked off another year, so now he would have to be classed as mid-50s.

Workmate Cathy did the right thing and bought the old fella lunch on the day. Well done, Cathy, and congratulations Mark.

Last Wednesday, Jaryd Fletcher ticked over another year also. Funny how you find these things out isn’t it? Congratulations, Jaryd.

A whisper has been going around that there is a possibility another former AFL star will play in the round 8 Murrabit versus Wandella match.

Josh Kennedy will play with Murrabit due to the club selecting the Swans’ premiership player in this year’s Carlton Draft, a promotion sending ex-AFL footballers to play a game with a country club.

So the word is that someone knows someone that’s a friend of someone who was a former AFL star who might line up for Wandella. Not too sure how truthful this all is but it’s some great gossip.

Lefty had been mentioned a couple of Komments ago, regarding him looking after the Kerang reserves. Well, last week prior to Kerang match against Woorinen, he was desperate for a forward pocket. The thought of slotting himself into the forward pocket entered his mind for about a millisecond, and he was then looking for a Colts player or two to fill the spot.

Hope you found someone, Bruce.

Speaking of Lefty and Nola, their three daughters featured in the May 23 paper. If you take a photo of the Kerang netball team, you are pretty likely to get at least one of their daughters in the photo.

The recent Budget has upset a few in the district’s timber industry and one local firewood supplier is a bit disappointed. Keep in mind that we are all on his side.

The original plan from the government was for major changes to be made in 2030, but now those expected changes will come in the next year or two.

Hopefully locals involved in the industry aren’t affected too much, and if they are, we will all get behind any stand they make.
