Solving the world’s problems

THE AFLW is still going with three weeks remaining prior to finals.

Personally, I find it a bit difficult to watch, but give the ladies credit, they go in as hard as.

After watching a story on the AFL website regarding “The rise of the long bomb in AFLW”, I think they would kick further if they played with full size footys.

See no reason why they play with a smaller ball, and if they could kick a bit further, they might be able to get it out of the congestion.

A QUORUM was formed when Peter Greenwood, Hippo and Feddo held a meeting at the Carter-Emmett memorial chair outside the Post Office in an attempt to solve the world’s problems.

Discussion, among other things, was concerning the power cord that secretly runs from the solar farm to Freddo’s house! That’d be good, ay Greg?

While having a dig at these guys it must be mentioned about the hot competition between Hippo and Pete in the cooking at this year’s Show.

Both featured highly in the baking section of the pavilion exhibits at the Kerang show. Chocolate cakes, biscuits and scones.

Think that Pete may have come out just that little bit ahead with a couple of first and placings, although Hippo did gain some placings as well. Hippo, think that Pete just pipped you due to weight of numbers.

Well done to both blokes for supporting the Kerang Agricultural Society’s show.

WHILE on the Show pavilion exhibits, Kathryn Rosewall always cooks up a storm for the show.

You’d think that Marshall would be required to at least test some of Kathryn’s wares, which would lead to the long-time Shire worker putting on a bit of weight.

Either Marshall shows restraint from tasting his wife’s cooking or he is just banned from the kitchen.

Kathryn is another who shows great support for the local Ag society.

ROBBO, Chick, Fonz, Maddog and Webby all hit Kyalite for a social fishing weekend and found themselves coerced into the Kyalite Fishing Club’s annual fishing competition by club president Brenton Hogan. Not too sure these blokes were too concerned about catching fish at the time.

Turns out that Robbo caught the biggest carp for the competition, winning $100. This, of course, was placed on the bar. Great job Robbo. Pretty sure the lads would have had a great time.

NONDIES Cohuna cricket import, Englishman Karim Marcelle, was recruited as an all-rounder who is pretty handy with the bat and moves the ball around a bit, both in the air and off the seam.

Karim had a good day with the ball in the October 7 match against rivals Leitchville Gunbower, opening the bowling and taking 2/23 from seven overs. He also took two catches for the innings.

Batting at number 4, he hasn’t, as yet, bothered the scorers, facing only one ball for a blob. Can only go up from here Karim.

Teammate and Welsh import, Archie Sussex, batted at three and managed 33 in his first dig for Nondies.

All the best to both these blokes. Sure they’ll have a great time with Nondies in Cohuna.

A FEW of the Men’s Shed blokes lent a hand to IGA as they have been putting in new shelving.

Robbo said it was hard work considering he’s retired, although the rest of the team said he did bugger-all.

Vinnie, Poodle, Lynchy, Gav and Box all chipped in to help as well.

Great job by the Men’s Shed crew and a good initiative from IGA to get their help.
