Out and about

THE Kerang Museum has obtained the iconic Ford Rail Motor that was used on the Koondrook Tramway back in the 50s. The rail motor is a modified 1943 Ford V8 truck chassis.

The carriage section of the Koondrook Tramway will be brought back to the Kerang Museum this Saturday, November 4. The Museum would like volunteers to help restore the Koondrook Tram, so if you are capable of such a task and wish to help, please contact the museum.


FORMER Kerang lad Jayden Pepperell often drives through Kerang and toots at Judy and Gary Wilkinson’s place.

The thing is, now Jayden drives a train and as Hippo and Judy live right next to the Vaughan Street crossing, he may as well acknowledge that he is in town.


WHILE walking the street last week – as is my want – old mate Greg Fowler drove past with the window down and yelled out something. Not too sure what you meant Freddo, but I just thought that I’d better mention it. Talk to you next time.


It’s interesting that on the west side of Victoria Street, one of the tables juts out onto the sidewalk about 50cm further than the other tables. Seems it’s there for folks to bump into.

After some discussion, it was decided that a chainsaw would be the easy fix.

A bit of common sense and a word from a friendly person in the know, it is more likely to cater for a wheel chair, rather than a case of, “Hey lads, that’s a bit long”. “Nah, she’ll be right”?


SAW Bryan Livvy drive past last week too. Now I haven’t seen my old footy teammate for ages.

For the few that don’t know, Bryan was a gun footballer in his day and won a few B&Fs and goalkicking awards for Wandella and Kerang.


A FRIEND in football has pointed out to me that it was the trade period and not the draft that has seen AFL players move clubs recently.

Of course it was the trade period. Sorry to my old mate Keith. I will attempt to do better.

Keith would be clearly pointing that out as a fellow-Carlton supporter. Not too sure if we have done any good in the trade period Keith, but we may have a few picks due when the draft comes along. Thanks for your support mate.


SPEAKING of making mistakes, Kurl spelt Catherine wrong the other week. It’s Catherine Rosewall, not Kathryn.

Sorry Mrs Rosewall, but remember, a ginger fluff by any other name would taste as sweet!


JC and Barb Campbell have been back from up north for a few weeks now. They were up there seeing family and working. What?

Yes, that’s right, John tells me he had to hook the laptop in while up there and make a call or two.

JC, I thought you would have been able to holiday better than that. Hope you and Barb had a great time.
