The Gannawarra Children’s Centre proudly displayed their redeveloped garden with a free barbecue last Friday.

The centre also snuck in their AGM in the evening with Jane Ogden chairing the meeting in a very unofficial manner as nominations were called. The position of vice president remains vacant, but the evening was a great success with a friendly atmosphere.

The garden area looks brilliant, the children’s face painting looked brilliant, and the snags hit the spot.

Thought a good old song was coming on the rayjo. Expecting to hear Dionne Warwick ease into Walk on By, but no.

Ended up being a rap song.

Definition: Disappointment – Anticipating a good song when it is actually rap.

The Melbourne Cup holiday on the first Tuesday of November often saw folks taking the Monday off. Now it seems that schools are using the Monday as a curriculum day. Great idea.

Had a bit of a chat to old mate George Fenton last week. George is cruising along ok and still loves his bowls.

Now that it’s not footy season George is looking forward to next season starting, and hopes that his beloved Wandella can moved up the ladder a bit. All the best to you, George.

Of course, George was a gun for the mighty Bombers back in the day. Wish I’d seen him play.

That reminds me that there is a new scribe doing the Kerang Bowling Club notes.

Damian Murray is having a crack at the notes and doing a great job. Nice ‘turn of phrase’ from Buddha who gets all the info on all the matches and then compiles it very well.

It would be great to be able to say never let the truth get in the way of the good story, but we only deal in facts here.

Mr Murray was a top cricketer and footballer in his younger days, and now is extremely capable on the bowling green so his results indicate.

Love your work, Budd.

Pete Colville has been seen walking the streets in Kerang of late. Apart from the fact that he is not driving buses, this also means that one must be prepared to cop some cheek.

So no bus work also means that Colin Granter is out and about.

Of all the things we need!

Hope that Pete Miller’s buses are required soon.

No seriously, all the best to Pete, Colin and Pete. All a very efficient bus driving team.

It’s quite interesting that the World Cup cricket has seen a turn-up or two.

Afghanistan has done way better than most would have predicted and everyone seems to be enjoying their success.

Then on the other hand, (cut and paste – change three words) England has done way worse than most would have predicted and everyone seems to be enjoying their lack of success.

No, sorry, I don’t really mean that (much)!

Getting closer to Christmas (every day) and Kerang is going to fire things up a bit with a festival in mid-November.

Hope everyone can get in and support local traders.
