Nice touch by the Kerang Footy Club having the ANZAC footy jumpers on May 4.

Brilliant initiative from the club. Well done.

Speaking of Kerang FC, did I hear that Brad Pay notches up his 200th game this Saturday?

Coupla hundred games of quality, Brad. Nice work and congratulations.

Local Rotary member and all-round good guy, Ron Kelly has been cleaning out his cupboard and in doing so, discovered a video (yes, video) of the 1984 match between Wandella and Lakes.

Since the discovery, it has been placed on “fakebook” with an audio discussion from a few people who may have known the players from back then.

Among those discussing the match were Richard and Joyce Boyd, who were great supporters of the Lakes Footy Club. As Joyce said: “It was a lot of hard work running the club, but we had a lot of fun”.

John Baulch also contributed, as he played for both Lakes and Wandella.

No one knew who the umpire was, although he did the job on his own and did a magnificent job. Footy should be umpired like that nowadays.

There have been a few rumours around town – one that is completely off the mark is regarding Gravity Clothing. It is not closing down.

The business is for sale but it is definitely not closing.

Colin Moon, Allan Shields and Phil from the Clearance Warehouse in Wellington Street, were all gasbagging the other day about something obviously very important to them.

It’s great to see three blokes reminiscing and laughing about the good old days when they were younger.

Speaking of rumours, I would love to start a rumour about what these blokes were talking about!

Deb Cottrell caught heaps of fish on the weekend of May 4 and 5 – not at her usual hidey hole but at a bigger lake that shall remain nameless, but it’s Aboriginal name means “Smoke from the hill”.

Thirteen good sized Reddies, with the smallest being perfect pan size. Not one carp caught in this expedition.

Of course I found out about this because she brought her “bragging” photos in to show me on her phone.

A local car buff parks his good car at the very end of a row of parking bays, as far as he can to the left, so that if a car parks next to his, the other car has plenty of room and no dings should result.

Had to laugh when I noticed that a car has parked next to the good car, in the next parking bay as far to the left as possible also.

The second car is trusting that the owner of the good car will do his best to avoid any dings.

Turns out that the second car belongs to the workmate of the owner of the first car.

Was speaking to Ron Free who has been a Melbourne Footy Club supporter for years. He became a Melbourne supporter because he used to open the batting for his cricket club in Melbourne with Ian Ridley, who was a rover for the Melbourne Footy Club at the time. Ian Jeffrey Ridley was a five-time premiership player, former coach between ’71 and ’73 then was club president from 1991 until 1996.

As he was great friends with Mr Ridley, Ron was often in the MFC’s clubrooms following a match having a few, quiet beverages with the footballers back in the day.

Ron thinks that Melbourne is doing OK at the moment, although Thursday’s loss wasn’t too well-received.

Old mate Didi went down to the Carlton verus Melbourne match last Thursday.

Thing with this is, every time he goes down to watch his Blues, they usually lose. Not this time though Didi.

Must admit that as a Blues’ supporter, I tipped Melbourne. Yep, definitely not the most faithful supporter. Sorry Didi.

Must let everyone know to stop looking – Coatsey has found his keys.

Seems that they jumped out of his pocket while he was travelling down Airport Road for some unknown reason.

Unknown reason that they jumped out of his pocket and/or unknown reason he was travelling down Airport Road!

Have also heard that the gopher he was using with kind permission took a bit of a tumble.

Coatsey has also recovered his hat, phone and the charger from Chong’s gopher.
