Catching up with old mates

CAUGHT up with old mate Lloyd Murray the other day, after he was seen doing some blockies around town. He was most probably just after the prime parking position, but no, he was doing blockies.

Lloyd is a passionate Eagles supporter. He was saying how he has the beanie and jumper of the Eagles. Good on you Lloyd – they’d be on the cards to win a flag before the Blues anyway, as mediocrity does not cut it.

SPEAKING of blockies, I hadn’t seen Terry Stacey for about a year, then all of a sudden he’s driving past, also probably doing blockies.

Being former owner of Chic and Stace’s along with Chic Dee, Terry would be enjoying his retirement now and he has probably been on holidays. Good on you Terry, all the best.

NOTICED that the Ford stencil in the concrete in front of Arnoldt & Greenwood’s has now been filled in with blue paint.

I’d like to think that Jason Greenwood was out there colouring it in with his crayons. Stayed within the lines very well.

Great that this was arrange by A & G and the Shire.

FORMER owner of Kerang Hair, Frankie, is now an Australian citizen. The young fella was presented with his citizenship last week in a ceremony in Melbourne somewhere.

Frankie was a popular player with the Wandella Footy Club Reserves and was featured as the AFL’s ambassador for the multi-cultural round a few years ago. Congratulations Frankie.

THE rigors of mixed netball have caught up with Jaryd Fletcher. While playing this exceedingly rough sport about six weeks ago, Jaryd snapped his Achilles tendon. Apparently other players heard the snap.

Thing is that Jaryd was basically standing still at the time.

No, it’s not a rough sport. It’s gentle fun to be enjoyed by all. Maybe Jaryd is just super-competitive … while he’s standing still.

All the best young fella, good to see you are still standing.

THE Kerang Book Parade went off exceptionally well on August 23.

A local group was organised to view the parade from in front of the Exchange Hotel for the best view possible.

Only thing is that VicRoads won’t allow Wellington Street to be closed off, so the parade went down the sidewalk on the northern side of the street, basically out of this group’s view.

Principal of Kerang South, Lyn Veall carefully took her students across the road to give the group a better view.

Well done to Lyn and all involved. It’s one we will need to remember for next year.

It is not the Shire’s decision to close Wellington Street, as it is a VicRoads-controlled road.

JUST wondering if the keen Nullawil supporter Luke Murray will still follow his beloved club once they amalgamate with Wycheproof-Narraport?

Phfft. Silly question. Of course he will. Luke would be more likely to forsake Carlton … then again.

SPEAKING of Carlton, another great Blues supporter in Peter Colville has been away from town working. Once he got back we had a bit of a chat and solved all of the Blues problems.

Think the problems may a bit bigger than what we can handle though Pete.

THE Kerang Turf Club will hold their December race meeting on Saturday, December 28. That is the Saturday following Christmas.

It’s always a great day at the Kerang Turf Club and they will be looking forward to another successful meeting.

They also have the Easter Cup Meeting that is always held on Easter Saturday. Next year it will be on April 19 I believe.

WHILE on the Kerang Turf Club, former Korong Vale gun junior footballer and Wedderburn player, Tom Nisbett handles a lot of the work for the local turf club.

Tom has a great interest in the local racing and has also been heavily involved with the Wedderburn Harness Racing Club.

Good on you Tom. Pretty sure all the meetings you organise will have success.
