Found Yeti, lost shoes

KYLIE Rowe lost her favourite Yeti at the Wandella Footy Club’s vote count the day after the GRFNL Grand Final. She was part of Wandella’s winning C Grade Netball premiership team and was also heavily involved in the obligatory celebrations. She feared the Yeti may have been filed away for safe keeping but then couldn’t remember where it had been placed. We’ve all done that, right! Keep in mind this was at about two or three in the morning.WELL, put away for safe keeping it was, as it was found the next day in the bin.

At least we know that Kylie likes her beverage of choice to be cold.

WHILE on the Wandella C Grade netballers, it appears that Jen Moore has announced her retirement as the shoes that she wore in the Grand Final are still hanging on the goalposts.

All your teammates want one more year, Jen. But new shoes might be required.

LEFTY and Robbo’s Kerang Reserves will start Grand Final day off with what Mrs Lesley Robert hopes is a convincing victory.

Her son Jon is joint coach of the “Two’s” along with Bruce “Lefty” Wright.

Mrs Roberts could be likely to get a bit nervous prior to watching her favourite team, but on previous results it should be a resounding victory.

Then the Seniors will take the field and hopefully perform to their best. It has been a wonderful effort by the Blues with many on this list of players having won up to nine premierships. Reckon that Ryan Gillingham has got nine, Jesse Clark and Brad Pay have got eight each.

Coach Troy Coates may have won nine or 10 at Kerang, plus another two or three at other clubs as well. Played in a few Grand Finals in his day has the young fella.

THE Footy Furnace stated last Sunday night that the Carlton Blues need better quality flankers.

This is the first time this has been mentioned since Carlton started to move their way up the ladder from the very bottom.

Now they are saying some of the recruits are injury prone. Duh! There’s a reason some of them were let go from previous clubs so easily.

How come DeKoning started the Elimination Final as a sub? Either he was right to play or not. Being the top liner that he is, surely you start him on the ground. If there was a question over his fitness he shouldn’t have been selected. Then they sub him for Kennedy who was recruited as a midfielder. Midfielders generally can get the footy. They should have subbed him for one of their flankers who don’t.

But the Blues showed they have a long way to go and their list, along with the use of the players they have, needs to improve heaps before they can consider themselves a premiership threat.

PYRAMID Hill Footy Club couldn’t get over the line in their attempt to win their first premiership in about a thousand years on the weekend (75 years I think).

Quite a few locals in the Pyramid Hill team including Bryden and Dylan Morison (former Murrabit and Kerang) and Brad Ladson (Macorna). Then there’s Kurl’s old mate Jaydon ‘Dos’ Cowling, not to mention Leigh Forster – although he is way past playing.

Former Yarrawalla players Robert and Bruce Moon have been leaders at Pyramid Hill since the ‘Walla disbanded in the 80’s, and Leigh has been with them forever. (I told you not to mention him).

They did win the Reserves so it ends up a successful season for the Bulldogs. Well done and congratulations to all.

VICKI Wilkinson just knocked over another year recently. We know that she can’t claim the usual “21 again” thing for her age, as nobody would believe that. We could maybe let her try 30 … no, sorry, it’s gotta be 40 Vic.

She has been gallivanting around the NSW countryside with her mum recently on a road trip. Hope you had the best time ever Vic – all the very best to you and your mum.

ROHAN Maclean and Kevin Sambrooks, both being Hawthorn supporters, would have had a pretty nervous Friday evening, hoping that their team could make it past Port. Everyone said how well Port played, but they only beat the Hawks by three points.

While on that, Kevin’s son Harry Sambrooks would have to be happy with his Swans as they have made another Prelim Final.

Harry presented my son a little Swans Footy when he was born and it was kicked until it was worn to the bladder. Will never forget that Harry, but the young bloke now barracks for the Saints (and his Grandfather was also a keen Swan supporter). Sorry.

GINNIVAN should pull his head in and Hinkley shouldn’t have said a word. He had already made the biggest statement by winning. $20,000 later he’d probably agree.
