Belting out a tune

Komment by Kurl

IT’S brilliant to read in last week’s Gannawarra Times that Von Condely hopped on the microphone and sang We’ll Meet Again at her 100th birthday celebrations held at the Uniting Church Hall.

I’m just wondering how she got the microphone away from son Brett. I hope you didn’t have to wrestle him, Von.

All the very best to Von and the Condely family.

HAD a bit of a chat to old mate Tracka Treacy and he tells me that brother Phil has got the Treacy homestead looking sensational.

The Treacy family had a bit of a Christmas get together out there the other weekend and Terry says the place has never looked better, as Phil and Judy have made it into a pleasant event venue.

Apparently, the lawns are looking brilliant, and Terry did say that he had “never mowed that front lawn area in his life”. Phff. That’d be right.

They’ve had a couple of Christmas parties out there and have a wedding or two booked. Good job Phil and Judy.

TANIA Spencer, son Kade and Kade’s girlfriend Stephanie Ierardo took part in the 2XU Wellness Beyond Blue run on Sunday, December 1.

Somehow, Kade was accidentally entered into the ladies section and, as it turned out, he won the ladies 25 to 30 year age group by about five minutes.

Great run Kade.

Wonder if anyone thought that No.7920 was a rather masculine-looking lady? I suppose no one was permitted to question this. Nice Kade.

WHILE on running, local bloke Kane O’Connell headed up to Queensland to have a go at the 50-kilometre run that was held there on the weekend of November 23.

Kane has clearly got the running bug and ended up crossing the line in the 50km run in 79th place out of 600 entrants with a time of 4 hours 25 minutes. Not a bad effort at all Kane.

Now he is looking to take on a marathon, which should be a bit easier than the 50km event.

NICK Hunter had tea out at Matsey’s the other evening and, as you do, he entered the Koondrook Tennis Club raffle. Turns out that Nick won third or fourth prize, which was half a dozen pots.

Nick forgot to grab the pots, so he left without his prize.

Then that Dale Trevorrow got wind of this as it was up on the board at Matsey’s, so he rang Nick and asked if he had won six pots and of course Nick said yes.

Mr Trevorrow then proceeded to drink Nick’s prize. Bet he did it with a smile on his face too.

These two are quite good mates, but Nick will most likely be looking for reparation from one Dale William Trevorrow.

DOSS Monk and her sister Kath hit the dance floor at Doss’ granddaughter’s wedding at the weekend. Great to see Doss grab her grand son Lachie and get him up for a dance and Kath was cutting a rug with another young gentleman, her son Greg.

Hope these two lovely ladies had a wonderful evening.

Evana Miles was hitched to Josh Randall. Best wishes to the lovely couple.

ON the bus trip home from the wedding, Olivia Monk asked the bus driver if he would kindly stop at the Quest apartments in Bendigo where they were staying.

The driver agreed but once they arrived, Olivia had changed her mind and instructed him to take them to the pub. Seems she wanted the party to continue.

Good on you, Olivia. Excellent commitment.

MURRABIT had about four inches of rain late last week. That’s wet enough.

Think there’d be a few who have had enough rain at this time of the year.

That’s bloomin’ farming though.

NOTICED that former Wandella cricketer Ethan McKnight starred for Eaglehawk in Sunday’s Jack Kidd Shield against Golden Square, taking 7/24 from his nine overs. This also included a hat-trick.

Eaglehawk dismissed the Square for 69 and made the runs losing a couple of wickets.

Congratulations Ethan. Great effort.
