Wedding was no mean feat

DROPPED in to see Helen at Nick’s Splendid Shoes for some fashion advice hoping against hope that Helen would say it’s okay to wear black Skechers with a suit to a wedding.

Received a resounding no.

Turns out the wedding was a bit more casual than we’d originally dressed for, the jacket wasn’t required, no tie and it was warm. Then, of all things, blew a heel on the shoes I did wear anyway.

So Helen, bare feet wasn’t the standard we expected.

AT the same wedding there was quite a crew of friends associated with Mick Bott and family.

“Bulldog” and Jenny, “Doc” and Dilly, John and Lauren and John and Jacinta to name a few, and of course “JB” and John Baulch.

It seems that old mate JB was ready for kick on later in the evening, but John made a wise decision and said it was home time.

It’s always great to catch up with folk that you don’t see enough.

THE Kerang Golf Bowling Club held their Christmas party on Sunday, December 15, out at the clubrooms.

There was quite a bit of frivolity in the air and club president Jimmy McLeish challenged another member to sing some      karaoke. The old “If you sing, so will I” challenge.

Said challenged member then proceeded to take the microphone and do a fine rendition of his chosen song.

McLeish then honoured his challenge and sang a Christmas carol.

One scallywag from the club suggested he should be booked as the main drawcard out at the Lake Charm Boat Club over Christmas.

ENJOYED watching Daniel Sams belt 30 off one over to help the Thunder knock over the Strikers in the T20 match last week

At the start of the over Sams had 11 runs from nine balls and ended the over with 41 runs from 15 balls. Pretty good effort, that.

THE Bray, Coates, Turner, Wilkinson Dream Team held their Christmas party awhile back, hit the Moulamein Races, then finished up at the Royal Hotel.

Heard that someone had a quiet kip while they were sitting on the loo – no names please.

Earlier at the races, one team member missed out on stallion of the day when others in the crew thought that this bloke was a shoo-in to take the major prize. Remember it’s tough at the top.

WROTE of Audrey Napier and Copper last week, but I missed the V in Ivan’s name. My most humble apologies.

And another name that Kurl got wrong last week was Jack bloomin’ Whitehead’s mate Barney. Of course it’s Darby Godfrey from Koondrook.

Sorry Darby.

MENTIONED Scott Boland not being as injury prone as Hazelwood in last week’s Komment. It’s great to be that step ahead of the selectors.

While on that, the only change that they will make is the forced change of Hazelwood out and Boland in, because as Darren Lehmann says, they don’t make the tough calls.

So McSweeney out, Konstas in and leave Uzzy in only for stability, most definitely not form.

NO scandals from the Gannawarra Times Christmas Party this year.

In the final Komment last year it stated that “Christine, Phoebe and Jenna all behaved as expected”.

This year everyone was well-behaved.

INTERESTING that the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank is no longer published for a dux student.

Of course, we all say that it is irrelevant and not a score out of 100, but it is a student’s achievement in relation to other students. So if you get 94, that means you are in the top 94 percentile, or the top 6 per cent. Sounds like a score to me.

Someone at Boort got an ATAR of 97. Other schools or students results weren’t published. That’s OK too.

Teachers will say it doesn’t matter, but not many universities will accept a score of 60 before they accept a score of 90.

A BIG thank you to the local community for their support of the Komment. Hope that it has created some local interest and that nobody took offence at any stage.

Kurl can sometimes get things wrong though, and we do our best not to let facts get in the way of a good joke, so hopefully all will be forgiven.

Thanks again, stay safe and Merry Christmas to all and a happy new year.
