Headed out to the Wandella versus Macorna game on May 3, and always being one to get in the rooms pre-match to get the ‘feel’ of the game, there was a face I recognised.
Couldn’t put a name to the face then he came over and introduced himself. It was former Quambatook player and longtime opponent I had coached against, the always-competitive Gregor Knight. Great that you came over and introduced yourself, Gregor, because I would have had to look in the Record and they don’t print them anymore.
Gregor joins another former Quamby teammate in Jarrod Schlitz at the Bombers. Wandella are much better off having these quality blokes in their team.
There were a few more Quamby legends that attended this match, with Snibs and Bull Ritchie and Jade Boyd also showing their face.
Darkie Ritchie was probably also there at some stage but he had to get over and show support to the Boort footy team as they are doing pretty well this year in the North Central league.
Noticed that the McKnight brothers – Ethan, Jonah, Boden and Flynn – all snagged a goal or two for the Kerang seniors against the Raiders in the May 3 match. Mum and dad would be rather proud I’d suggest – talk about the Blues Brothers.
Will be interesting later in the year as it could come down to Kerang and Koondrook-Barham fighting it out for fifth spot. That’d be interesting.
Meanwhile, Cohuna continue to roll along very nicely thank you. Yep, we’re backing them.
With the rail trail no longer a goer, the original challenge of a race to Koondrook with Colin Granter is obviously cancelled, unless he can come up with a task he thinks would be worthy of our attention.
Probably lucky that we didn’t have to bring out our bikes, as I know that mine had seen better days. Colin’s tricycle was a bit small, a bit rusty and more like a collector’s item. You were lucky, Granter.
Noticed that Scott Wishart was having a run around for the Macorna seconds against Wandella and was firmly parked in the forward line.
Didn’t get a real lot of the footy, but every time he did, he would hit a target, threading the needle more than a couple of times.
Clearly still enjoying it. Good on you, Scott.
In the weeks to come, Wandella will show support for a fellow player and wear footy guernseys supporting cystic fibrosis. I imagine 65 roses on the jumper, a reference to a song from quite a few years ago.
This is a great initiative, instigated by Wandella back flanker Adam McKenzie. Well done to all concerned and good luck.
Went into Music HQ to have a chat to Jim and Simonie and who should be in there but old mate Wayne Radcliffe.
Always the ideas man, Radda has come up with a plan to turn his shed, the old Heddle’s Woolshed, into a Handmade Garage Sale meeting place-type thingy. Any handmade items you’d like to sell or items that you’d normally get rid of in a garage sale could be taken down to the Woolshed and left on a shelf for sale. Not your normal knick knacky stuff, but a grandfather clock, jams, sauces or similar.
Radda isn’t looking to make money from this but it could end up as a great meeting spot for folk to gather, solve the world’s problems, watch the footy, knit or even sell some handmade goods.
Would be great if you could get this off the ground, Radda.
Guess that a few of us found it a bit difficult with last week being a five-day work week. How dare they make us do a full week!
After being spoilt with the Easter Friday and Monday extra-long weekend, this was followed up by the Anzac Day Friday off.
We were getting used to the short weeks.
Ah well, back to work.
Hope that every mother got what they desired from their children or families.
Questionable-looking pancakes or burnt toast just does not cut the mustard, but it is always the thought that counts.
Keep in mind, hen mothers have thought that they want to be wined and dined, somehow, it’s not that thought that counts.
