PARKER Treacy made his senior footy debut for Wandella against Macorna on June 14 and has been lucky enough to follow it up with another game the week after playing alongside brother Tanner for both matches.

This is guaranteed to be a big thrill for Parker and Tanner’s dad, Terry, to see a couple of his sons playing together in the ones.

Heard that both lads worked together pretty well.

Hope it’s the start of a couple of very long career for the Treacy lads that they both enjoy.

WANDELLA are holding a back-to for the 1985 premiership on Saturday, July 5 when they play Moulamein at home

The 1985 flag was played at the Alexandra Park Showgrounds against a Quambatook team that had won the 1984 flag.

It would be great if some of the Quamby blokes could come along too as both teams had a great rivalry. That usually happens against good friends.

Pretty sure that not as many refreshments will be consumed as back in the day, but a great time is guaranteed to be had by all former and current players. Boom, boom, boom.

SO the Yanks hit some supposedly prime targets of Iran, then some missiles were fired back and a ceasefire was meant to happen then a missile or two were fired just after the ceasefire was declared.

And I thought that COVID-19 would turn out to be the best deterrent to prevent WWIII. That’s gone by the wayside and the missiles still fly.

It is very selfish of me to think that I am of the age that hasn’t had to go to war, being too young for Vietnam and too old for any current conflict and my kids are now too old to get involved and grandkids are too young.

Yep, a selfish attitude, but it’s very sad that it even comes to mind.

JOHN Campbell has had enough and is looking to go and use his fishing boat a bit from the end of June.

Good on you, JC, it has been a very successful and productive career. All the very best.

Pretty sure that Gregor will be more than happy to let you use his caravan and boat.

FATTY Pay is on the mend after having a bit of work done. He’s recovering quite well but may have to play on the back flank this week rather than his usual position of centre half back – just until you are 100 per cent, Fatty.

Good on you, Ian.

A LOCAL resident and leader in the community has pointed out to Kurl that the shire has pressure washed the footpath from the Choice Cut corner down to the IGA car park to clean it up a bit. This has made it look wonderful.

Brilliant job by the shire lads.

MRS Yvonne Condely has made the recent move to Glenarm where she is sure to enjoy herself with many off the younger whippersnappers at Glenarm.

Von will tick over 101 years this November.

All the very best, Mrs Condely.

VON’S son, Brett, was wearing one of his many hats last week while in charge of the front office down at Franzini’s.

Caught him with his boots off as he was doing a stocktake on the air filters at Fraz’s. Turns out he had to take the boots off to count them all.

A QUICK discussion with the ladies having a coffee at Chino’s and April O’Neil volunteered that she was a Saints supporter, showing a St Kilda mascot as the wallpaper on her phone. April, when you support a team like St Kilda, it’s best to keep it quiet. Same as Carlton supporters should.

SPEAKING of Saints supporters (I’ve let the cat out of the bag) Gannawarra Times journo Ned Coleman is doing a great job and hopefully enjoying his time. Haven’t heard how his hiking at Feathertop went over the long weekend, but I would suggest it would be cold and wet.

THERE would have been a fair bit of interest in the Mallee Eagles versus Kerang A Grade netball match played on Saturday. As the final weekend to complete the first home-and-away rounds, both teams were on nine wins and no losses, with the Eagles only ahead on percentage.
