Kerang teens face animal cruelty charges

TWO teenage boys accused of bludgeoning a dog to death in a sickening attack in Kerang last year will face court again next month.

The accused duo, then aged 15 and 16, who can’t be identified for legal reasons, faced the Kerang Children’s Court on February 10.

The matter was adjourned until March 17 in Bendigo.

It’s alleged the pair stole the three-year-old family pet from a Kerang address before it was repeatedly struck with a hammer and stabbed on September 4 and 5 in 2021.

Police were alerted to the disturbing attack after footage of the attack was discovered.

The dog was found deceased on September 26.

The teens were charged with animal cruelty and theft.
