Online fraud sparks diligence warning

Online fraud

POLICE are urging community members to be aware and conduct due diligence before making any online purchases from social media sites.

The warning comes following continued reports at a local level of fraud through online mediums.

Kerang police Senior Sergeant Michael Kearnes urged residents to remain vigilant when it came to buyer scams, especially if the item has not been viewed.

Damage

A MOTOR vehicle, located in Westblade Avenue, Kerang was damaged on Friday.

Police said it appears the damage was caused by someone kicking the door of the car.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

POLICE executed a search warrant at a Murray Street address in Kerang on Thursday.

As a result of the search, a 49-year-old Kerang man was charged with drug possession offences.

He will face the Kerang Magistrates’ Court in the near future.

Thefts

TRADIES have been urged to secure their tools in lockable bins or trays overnight and consider installing CCTV or trail cameras to their vehicles.

The warning comes following a number of thefts which took place between Tuesday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 10.

Power tools and hand tools were stolen from the rear trays of trade vehicles which were parked within the vicinity of Museum Drive and Maxwell Avenue, on both private and public property.
