Man found dead on highway

THE Murray Valley Highway is closed between Kerang and Lake Charm after a man’s body was found on the road early Friday morning.

Investigators have been told a vehicle was travelling north on the Murray Valley Highway at Reedy Lake when it struck an object on the road just before 2.30am.

The driver stopped and located the yet to be identified man, deceased on the road.

The driver of the car was uninjured and is helping police with their enquiries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Drivers heading northbound are being diverted via Kerang-Quambatook Road and Donald-Swan Hill Road.

Southbound traffic is being diverted onto Benjeroop-Lake Charm Road, using Kerang-Murrabit Road to return to the highway.
