Police round-up

Ute missing

A UTILITY was allegedly stolen from a Leitchville property earlier this month.

Police were told the red Subaru Brumby ute went missing from outside a Findlay Street house some time between January 15 and 16.

The vehicle was believed to be unlocked and uninsured.

Local police are checking through CCTV footage.

Farm fire

A FIRE burnt through close to eight hectares at a Macorna property earlier this month.

Firefighters rushed to the Kerang-Macorna Road property on January 16 after the farmer’s slasher came into contact with some fencing wire in long grass.

Seven local CFA units attended with the assistance of air support and quickly bought the fire under control.

The fire was contained within the property.

Hoon caught

A PYRAMID Hill man, 45, was caught travelling at 140km/h in a 100 zone on Bendigo-Pyramid Hill Road at Mitiamo about 4pm on Wednesday last week.

He allegedly told police he didn’t know what speed he was doing.

He then underwent an oral fluid test which returned a positive result to cannabis.

“His reason for having an illicit drug in his oral fluid was ‘I didn’t know I had it in me’,” the spokesperson said.

The driver is looking at a minimum six-month licence loss and substantial fine when police receive the toxicology report.
