SWAN HILL

Public toilet fires

UNKNOWN offenders started a fire in the sink of the unisex disabled cubicle in the McCallum Street public toilet block across from Swan Hill Town Hall about 7.35pm on Friday, November 22.

A passerby called 000 and Swan Hill CFA attended and distinguished the fire.

About 3.15pm on Saturday, November 23, during total fire ban, unidentified offenders caused a small explosion with enough force to cause significant damage to the porcelain toilet in a cubicle at the McCallum Street public toilets.

Offenders also attempted another fire in that same cubicle, which did not take.

The Swan Hill Criminal Investigation team is investigating and would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of the incident.

Bridge traffic chaos

THE Murray River Bridge between NSW and Victoria from McCallum Street was blocked for about two hours when a Double B truck broke down on the Swan Hill side of the bridge about 9pm Monday, November 25.

Several attempts were made to rectify the problem, but on-site mechanical works were required before the vehicle could be mobilised again.
