Aiming for game time

LOCAL youngsters are rearing to go for the resumption of the basketball season after spending two days of their school holidays honing their skills.

Close to 70 kids aged six to 16 participated in the clinic in Kerang on Wednesday, delivered by coaches from School of Skills Basketball, including head coach, Michael Torres.

The Coburg Giants player was full of praise for the participants following the conclusion of the clinic.

“The kids have been really great, they have lots of energy and they are really eager to learn,” he said.

“They have excellent sportsmanship; they are well-mannered and very polite, so overall I am very impressed.”

Participants, most of whom took part in clinics last year and since advanced their skills, competed in competitions, with winners presented with trophies and medals.

This was Torres’ third clinic in Kerang since last August.

“I have really got to know the kids and have formed a great relationship with the Kerang Amateur Basketball Association,” he said.

“There was not one child mad or bad because they lost, there were high-fives going around all day.”
