A RECORD number of participants in the Cohuna Town Garage Sale on Saturday meant there were bargains to be picked up by all.
Fifty-seven families participated in the Cohuna Neighbourhood House initiative, meaning there were offerings from one corner of town to the other, creating an epic journey for those who tackled the trail on foot.
Bernadette Penglase said while the crowd may have been spread a little thin across the large number of properties, she had still made some sales.
“I’ve sold some bikes and cabinets, which has been really good,” she said.
“It’s the first time I’ve done it and it’s been a good opportunity to have a clean-up; the kids are gone now so I’ve gone through their rooms.”
Down the road, Graeme Borneman echoed those sentiments, reporting plenty of interest in his collection of unwanted household goods.
“We’ve done all right; we’ve sold some tables and chairs, gas heaters and a fair bit of clothing so we’re pretty happy with that,” he said.
“I reckon we would have had more than 100 people come through.
“We threw away the rubbish and it was either throw away the rest as well or sell it, because we’ve been here 10 years and this is the first time we’ve had a big clean out.”
Evie Hamilton travelled in from Patho to check out the sale.
“I love it; I’ve got a few bargains and it’s really good to get out and meet people as well,” she said.
