Hospital boss resigns

COHUNA District Hospital chief executive officer, William Hall has resigned after two years in the position.

Mr Hall, who joined the health sector in 2009 after senior roles in business administration and manufacturing, was previously business services general manager and chief financial officer at Numurkah District Health Service before being appointed to the top executive role at Cohuna in January 2014.

“I have enjoyed working with the health service and developed some great friendships here in Cohuna, but it is time for me to move back to Wangaratta to be close to family,” Mr Hall said.

“Over the past two years I have worked closely with the board to resolve and define the information needed to develop a sustainable strategic plan for the delivery of safe, appropriate and sustainable health services.

“A new plan will soon be finalised and actioned by the board and a new chief executive officer. There is an exciting future for the health service and I look forward to seeing this come to pass over the next few years.”

Mr Hall said the dedicated care of “wonderful” nursing staff of the hospital is amazing.

“To the support services team and administration staff who create a clean and inviting environment, provide great food, maintain the building and keep the records, thank you all,” he said.

“Finally, to my leadership team and heads of department, your outstanding teamwork and capacity to drive excellence with one another is beautiful to see. We are an outstanding health service and it’s with a heavy heart that I now bid you farewell.”

Mr Hall said the highlight achievements during his tenure include achieving two consecutive near perfect patient satisfaction rates and building a new nursing executive team.

“The staff members have energetically embraced the requirements for national standard accreditation with a strong skill set to put Cohuna in a strong position going forward,” he said.

Mr Hall said the board is actively recruiting for his replacement.

Cohuna District Hospital board of management chairman, Cameron Hodge said that the position will be temporarily filled until a replacement is found.
