Blues ready for title tilt

KERANG is set to go into the 2016 Central Murray Football Netball League season with the majority of players who helped secure a record fourth consecutive senior premiership.

Co-coaches, Troy Coates and Travis Matheson have retained at this stage all bar one of last season’s premiership winning side, with former AFL player, Lance Picioane signing on with Riddell District Football League side, Broadford.

Returning to the Blues this year is Brandon Hayes, who spent the past two seasons playing in the Victorian Football League with Bendigo (2014) and Port Melbourne (2015).

“Numbers have been pretty good across all grades for training,” Blues president, Scott Clingan said.

“We’ve had around 35 players at each session, and we’re all looking forward to the coming season.”

The Blues will play practice matches at Pyramid Hill on March 5 and Leitchville on March 19, with the club hosting 2015 grand finalists, Koondrook/Barham in the opening round of the season on April 9.
