FORMER Koondrook/Barham player, Brodie Filo took out the Northern Territory Football League’s highest individual honour at the weekend.

The 26-year-old claimed the league’s Nichols Medal on Sunday night, finishing with 18 votes.

The midfielder, who helped steer Nightcliff to fifth on the ladder and a semi-final berth, polled two votes in the final round of the home and away season to edge out Southern Districts’ Will Farrer.

Filo – who played with the Raiders during the 2011 and 2012 seasons – is the first Nightcliff player since Kerang premiership coach, Troy Coates to claim the honour.

Filo, the son of Derrick Filo, won the Bendigo Football Netball League’s Michelsen Medal in September and will take to the field for Goulburn Valley Football League side, Shepparton United, this season.
