KERANG Progress Association has been “bowled over” by the support of the community for the town’s New Year’s Eve celebrations later this year.
The Kerang Bowling Club has helped the New Year’s Eve organising committee raise $2260 thanks to bar and raffle sales and rink entry fees at a recent end-of-season function at the club.
“We are absolutely wrapped with the donation. It is a great contribution from another club toward what we have done last year,” Kerang Progress Association president, Kelvin Burt said.
“We have about $2500 left over from last year, which we made by selling glow sticks.”
Mr Burt said the latest donation meant the group has raised half of the running costs required for the December 31 event at Atkinson Park.
“Preparations are already in full swing; we have booked the band, the children’s entertainment and the fireworks,” he said.
Kerang Bowling Club committee member, Ian Roberts said it was encouraging to have a group of “dedicated” people getting together and doing something positive for the community.
“The Kerang Bowling Club is very pleased to give our support and assist with their fundraising activity,” he said.
“We would hope that other clubs and organisations follow our example in assisting their fundraising efforts for this year’s celebrations.”
