‘Roos duo to lead

TWO Ultima footballers will oversee the Golden Rivers Football League’s chances at next month’s AFL Victoria Community Championships.

Jack O’Rourke – who took over coaching the league’s two-time reigning premiers during the pre-season – will oversee the senior side that will take on the Kyabram and District Football Netball League at Tallygaroopna on Saturday, May 21.

Symons, who played in Ultima’s past two senior grand final victories, will coach the league’s under 18 side – the first time the league will field a junior representative team in the competition.

Squads and support staff for both sides are yet to finalised, with three training sessions – which are compulsory for all selected players – to occur leading up to the match.

Sessions will be held at Moulamein on Sunday, April 24, Murrabit on Sunday, May 8 and Wandella on Thursday, May 19, which includes a jumper presentation session for the seniors.

All under 18 players will be presented with their guernseys prior to the match at Tallygaroopna.

Meanwhile, the GRFL’s top netballers will take part in the competition for the first time, with two sides taking part.

Ultima’s Rebecca Grey will coach the league’s senior and 17 and Under sides, that will take on Kyabram and District’s interleague team.
