FINAL preparations are being made to Sunday’s Kerang Show and Shine, which will raise funds for the construction of a multi-purpose venue at Alexandra Park.

The Kerang and District Agricultural Society, Kerang Progress Association, Kerang and District Vintage Motor Vehicle Club and Alexandra Park Trust have united for the one-day event, which will see more than 130 vehicles on display.

Organisers have received entries from a number of Model T Ford owners, as well as many vintage Ford and Holden enthusiasts whose vehicles were built in the 1970s.

Prizes will be on offer for 11 sections being judged on the day, with raffles occurring throughout the event.

“We hope that this event generates a bit of interest so next year we can expand it to include boats and motorcycles,” event co-ordinator, John Poole said.

Funds raised will assist with a construction of a multi-purpose building at Alexandra to replace cattle sheds that were destroyed by a storm in late 2014.

The proposed venue would cater for numerous groups and organisations, providing a facility larger than local sporting club halls, but smaller than the Kerang Memorial Hall.

“Due to the size of our club, we will need to look for a larger meeting venue as we are running out of room where we are now due to our 80 members,” vintage motor vehicle club president, Colin Day said.

“If the building goes ahead, it may be a future place to hold our meetings.”

Gates will open at Alexandra Park at 10am, with admission $5 per person.

Entries for the judging sections are still open, with all vehicles to be on-site prior to 10am.
