$11.38m for capital works

GANNAWARRA Shire Council proposes to spend $11.38 million on capital works in 2016-2017.

Council will finance $5.35 million, including asset sales, and $6.03 million will come from external grants.

Projects worth $750,000 will be carried forward from 2015-2016. Grants received but not yet spent by June 30 this year form part of council’s cash reserves to fund the following year’s capital works program.

Major capital infrastructure projects in excess of $200,000, including projects carried forward from 2015-2016, include:

• Road rehabilitation program $2,298,000

• Wells Bridge $1,672,000

• Plant and vehicle replacement $983,000

• Gravel resheeting program $953,000

• Quambatook flood mitigation $807,000

• Kerang shopping area streetscape $750,000

• Sir John Gorton Precinct $677,000

• Koondrook wharf completion $600,000

• Business systems upgrade* $320,000

• Koondrook Caravan Park upgrade* $275,000

• Denyer’s Pit landfill capping $220,000
