HDFNL – Five Bombers in line

FIVE Leitchville/Gunbower players feature in the Heathcote District Football Netball League 25-man squad for tomorrow’s AFL Victoria Community Championship match against Bellarine at Ocean Grove.

Hoby Bussey, Adam Decicco, Tim Lincoln, Jackson McEwen and Ryan Prendergast are in line for the 22-player side that will look to repeat last year’s efforts.

The squad features some of the league’s top players, including Huntly utility Ryan Semmell, North Bendigo tall Brett Strange and Elmore goalkicker Danny Brewster.

It will be a tough task for the HDFNL side to travel to Ocean Grove and defeat the Bellarine team, which boasts some of the top players from the Geelong area.

The battle between Strange and former Geelong and Western Bulldog player, Peter Street will be a highlight of the match, with Bussey and Prendergast to patrol the visitors’ back third of the ground.

The winner will move to 18th on the AFL Victoria Community Championship and take on the loser of the Yarra Valley v MPNFL (2) match in 2017.

The loser will drop to 21st in the rankings and face the winner of the Central Highlands v Geelong and District match next year.

The Bombers also have five players in the 25-player under 18 side, which will play Bellarine before the senior game.

Aaron Colvin, Lochie Duncan, Charlie Hancock, Brady Hore and Olly O’Shea were all in line for the side, which will be trimmed to 22 by game day.

The senior match will begin at 2.10pm, with the under 18 encounter kicking off proceedings at 11.40am.
