CMFNL – Top five calling

THE Cohuna Kangas will remain in touch with the Central Murray Football Netball League top five tomorrow with a win against the Mallee Eagles.

The eighth-placed Raiders and fifth-placed Eagles have both won three games so far this season, with percentage separating Rick Easton’s men and a spot in the top five.

A poor second half cost the Kangas last weekend, with the side going down to Koondrook/Barham by 48 points, whilst the Eagles lost to Tooleybuc/Manangatang by 14 points.

Easton will need to make at least two changes, with the home side to be without Ben Archard and Griffin Bird due to injury.

The loss of the duo will impact the Kangas’ midfield drive, meaning extra pressure will be placed on Rhys Bradley and Ben Edwards.

The pair will battle with Beau Bennett and Mitch Bosward, with the ruck duel between the Kangas’ Damian Kefford and Nathaniel Kendall just as pivotal to the result.

Easton and Kokwam Niki will be focal points in the Kangas’ forward 50, with Eagles coach, Bo Alexander to place Dylan Bosward and Matthew White on the pair.

Harrison Keely faces the prospect of trying to contain Chris Worner, who kicked two goals in his first match for the Eagles last weekend, with fellow defender, Jackson Clark to go to Patrick Batten,

The Eagles have won their past two games against the Kangas, with the margin being more than 50 points on each occasion.

PREDICTION: The Mallee Eagles will win by 30 points.
