CMFNL – Blues to bounce back

KERANG will look to increase its percentage tomorrow when the four-time reigning Central Murray Football Netball League premiers host the winless Balranald.

It will be the Blues’ fourth game in six weeks, with the AFL Victoria Community Championship break and the club’s first bye of the season interrupting the club’s momentum.

Balranald will be refreshed after last weekend’s bye – the club’s second break in the space of three weeks – with the side playing once since May 21.

Despite being the fresher of the sides, the ‘Roos do not have the personnel to challenge Kerang for four quarters – especially a side that will be eager to rebound from last weekend’s 14-point loss to Koondrook/Barham.

Although boasting AFL experience through Laurence Angwin, the defender will need plenty of support to ensure the likes of Luke Cotchett and Troy Coates do not put on a clinic in front of their home crowd.

Jarryd Stead faces the tough prospect of rucking against Kerang tall, Troy Davis, with Bradlee Pay and Ryan Gillingham to lead the home side’s midfield against Connor Soraggi and Raven Jolliffe.

Bailey Brougham kicked two goals in Balranald’s 103-point loss to Lake Boga on May 28, but will need to contend with Mark Walter in the visitors’ forward line.

Kerang holds a strong record against the ‘Roos, with the New South Wales side last defeating the Blues in the 2009 grand final.

PREDICTION: Kerang will win by at least 90 points.
