CMFNL – Race tightens up

KERANG and Koondrook/Barham sit one win clear on top of the Central Murray Football Netball League ladder after Swan Hill stunned Nyah-Nyah West United at the weekend.

The Demons’ 31-point loss dropped the former competition leaders to third, but the side has a game in hand thanks to the Blues and Raiders having the bye in round 15.

Kerang took control of its match against Tooleybuc/Manangatang early in the first quarter, going on to win by 62 points.

Hayden Hall kicked three goals for the victors, who hold a 22 per cent advantage over the Raiders.

Koondrook/Barham defeated Lake Boga for the second time this season, recording a 36-point win away from home.

The Raiders pulled away from the Magpies in the second half, kicking six goals to two in the third term.

Tom Lamb kicked four goals for the victors, with Harley Burmeister and Zac Hare chipping in with three goals each.

The news wasn’t as good for the Cohuna Kangas, who are three and a half wins off the top five following a 83-point loss to Woorinen.

A six goal to two opening term set the tone for the day, with Harrison Keely (two goals) the Kangas’ sole multiple goalkicker.
