LOCAL teenagers have gained an insight into future career opportunities without having to leave the district.
Students from Barham High School, Kerang Technical High School and Pyramid Hill College spent time on Wednesday exploring what was on offer at the Cohuna Secondary College Careers Expo.
Now in its third year, the expo attracted local businesses, universities and other employers.
“You can’t put a price on an experience like this,” the college’s careers assistant, Melisa Sincock said.
“We would not be able to take more than 200 students to all of these places exhibiting here at one.”
Cohuna Secondary College and Pyramid Hill College students spent the morning exploring the stands located within the ECA Centre, whilst presentations from the likes of the Australian Defence Force, Victoria Police and the Australian Rules Football College occurred within the neighbouring drama room.
Kerang and Barham year 12 students joined their Cohuna peers in the afternoon for a tertiary selection presentation, with the majority of Victoria’s universities and TAFEs represented.
“The day meant a lot as I am undecided what to do at the end of the year,” Cohuna Secondary College year 12 student, Austin Robinson said.
“The day has given me a few options for my career, so hopefully I can decide what to do.”
