CMFNL – Top five set

THE Central Murray Football Netball League’s top five is set one round before the completion of the home and away season.

Kerang and Koondrook/Barham will play finals this year, with Nyah-Nyah West United’s 105-point win against Lake Boga ending the Magpies’ finals hopes.

Woorinen and Tooleybuc/Manangatang round out the top five, with the Tigers and Saints to meet in the elimination final at Nyah.

The Blues kept their one-win lead over Koondrook/Barham at the top of the ladder thanks to a 51-point win under lights against Swan Hill.

Michael Runciman added to his recent run of form, booting four goals in a performance that saw the four-time reigning premiers kick away in the second half.

Six points separated the Blues and Swans at the main break, but the visitors kicked the only four goals of the third quarter to secure a 13th win of the season.

The Raiders bounced back from their round 14 loss to Tooleybuc/Manangatang, defeating the Mallee Eagles by 67 points.

Tom Lamb (four goals) and Jay Reynolds (three goals) led the way for the visitots, who kept the injury-plagued Eagles goalless in the second and third quarters.

Koondrook/Barham faces the Cohuna Kangas this weekend knowing a significant win and a Woorinen victory against Kerang could see last season’s grand finalists switch spots on the ladder.

The Kangas became Tyntynder’s second scalp this season at the weekend, going down by two points.

Rick Easton kicked four goals for the Kangas, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs came from 27 points down at the final break to win.
