KERANG Golf Club member and Quambatook farmer, Allan Free achieved a rare feat recently, recording two holes-in-one in the space of 15 days.
Both achievements occurred at the Kerang course during midweek competition play.
The first feat occurred on August 18, when the 73-year-old used a four-iron on the 165-metre par-three ninth. Free’s shot went low and straight, landing short of the green.
The ball took several bounces forward, before hitting the pin and dropping into the hole.
The next effort occurred on September 1, when Free decided to use his three-wood in wet conditions on the 166-metre par-three 16th.
“I chose the club so I could hit a left-to-right shot up onto the green,” he said.
Free could not find his ball when he reached the green. After spending time looking for the ball, a playing partner jokingly checked the hole and to his astonishment, found the ball in the cup.
The efforts add to Free’s first hole-in-one, which occurred at the 153-metre, par-three ninth hole at Quambatook’s sandscrape course in 2014.
