ONE of the district’s major activity groups for retired residents continues to grow in stature.
Close to 30 people attend Tuesday’s Kerang and District University of the Third Age annual meeting, which outlined the group’s goals for the coming year.
Covering close to 100 members, the organisation runs numerous programs for people in their “third age” of their life – retirement.
Current president, Rex Bradley was installed to the role for a further 12 months, with a committee of six position holders and five others appointed to oversee the group’s extensive range of programs.
“One of the reasons for our success is that of the committee and the organising that is needed to maintain a group of our size,” he said.
Events are held regularly at the Kerang Memorial Hall, Kerang Senior Citizens Centre and Sir John Gorton Library, ranging from chair exercises, Tai Chi, writing classes, guest speakers and updates on new technologies.
Other regular highlights include the dinner group, the annual concert and trips away, including this year’s expedition to Japan.
“There is always something going on in U3A. Spread the word and get our group out there,” Mr Bradley said.
An information and registration day will be held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre on Tuesday from 10am.
