Two elections to proceed

RESIDENTS in Gannawarra Shire Council’s Patchell and Yarran Wards will need to vote next month to elect representatives for the next four years.

Nominations close for those considering running for council at 12 noon today, with 10 people already completing the application process.

Five people will contest the Yarran Ward – which covers Cohuna and Leitchville – with two joint tickets formed.

Andrew Gibbs and Sonia Wright have united, with former mayor, Neville Goulding and Robert Cooper also seeking to be elected.

Current mayor, Lorraine Learmonth is the fifth nominee for the ward.

Patchell Ward resident, which include those living in Macorna, Kerang and the area east of the Reedy Lakes, will also need to vote after Jodie Basile, Jenny Fawcett and Brian Gibson have all nominated.

Current councillor, Mark Arians is yet to nominate, but recently confirmed he will seek one of the three positions in the ward.

Lake Charm farmer, Charlie Gillingham is the sole nominee for the Avoca Ward, which covers the western section of the municipality, with long-serving representative, Oscar Aertssen the only nominee for the Murray Ward, which covers Koondrook and Murrabit.
