Talks to save seats

A COMMUNITY meeting will be held tonight to discuss ways three memorial seats located in Victoria Street, Kerang can be preserved.

The Kerang and District Family History Group-organised meeting, occurring at the Kerang Museum meeting room from 8pm, will discuss the plight of the three seats.

One seat, dedicated to two servicemen who died whilst serving during World War One, is set to be moved to make way for the $750,000 redevelopment of Victoria Street between Patchell Plaza and the Kerang post office.

The history group is also concerned regarding the future of a wooden seat in Victoria Square dedicated to the memory of Jean Lang, the wife of former chemist, Percy Lang, and a memorial shelter on the corner of Victoria and Wellington streets erected in honour of Alexander Duncan Fraser.
