Floods impact paddle course

ORGANISERS of next month’s Massive Murray Paddle have altered the course of the five-day event due to flooding of areas along the Murray River.

The event, which begins at Yarrawonga on November 21 and finishes at Swan Hill on November 25, will see participants compete in single and team categories.

Due to floods, the opening leg from Yarrawonga to Tocumwal will be repeated on day two due to parts of forest adjacent to the river not predicted to be dry until well into December.

Checkpoints during the opening leg will also be altered to enable vehicle access to the river for changeovers.

Day three action is scheduled to begin at Picnic Point, with an alteration to check points as competitors make their way to Echuca.

Organisers will continue to monitor the situation – including the course for the day four paddle from Echuca to Torrumbarry Weir and the final day leg from Murrabit to Swan Hill.
