ALL is in readiness for Sunday’s Gunbower Harness Racing Club Pacing and Trotting Cup meet, despite organisers facing minor issues during the week.
Close to 90 horses will feature in the eight-race meet at the Gunbower Racecourse – a figure that has pleased club management.
The first race will begin at 1.29pm, with the major highlights – the Cohuna Car Sales Bill Poxon Memorial Gunbower Trotters Cup and the Gunbower Family Hotel Gunbower Pacing Cup – occurring at 3.49pm and 4.59pm respectively.
“It is good to see a number of top quality drivers and trainers will come to Gunbower for the meet,” club secretary, Peter O’Shea said.
“The owners and trainers appreciate the work we do.”
There will be plenty to do off-track, with attractions including a reptile farm, jumping castle and the popular pony trots races.
Those in attendance will be able to experience the feeling of driving a sulky in a virtual reality area, whilst the gumboot toss, spit the dummy and 4×100-metres relay competitions will attract a number of entries.
Judging for the Lady of the Day, Gent of the Day and Junior Female of the Day will occur, with winners selected by a roving panel of assessors.
Organisers have also overcome a number of obstacles to hold the event, with scheduled electrical supply works at Gunbower occurring at the same time as the meet.
“We will have plenty of generators running on the day,” O’Shea said.
Meanwhile, thieves broke into the venue earlier this week, taking $250 worth of alcohol that was to be used at the event.
