Crew walks around town

DOZENS of mental health advocates of all ages pounded the pavement on Saturday morning to support a fundraising effort headed up by a local teenager.

The five-kilometre walk around Kerang was an initiative of Jorja McDonald and her 15-member Mallee Crew, which is taking part in the March with Me event on March 4 and 5 with the aim of raising $5000.

Participants contributed to the cause by paying an entry fee and supporting a barbecue lunch at the conclusion of the walk.

The 2017 March with Me event will see a group of 290 people walk 116 kilometres from Portsea to Port Melbourne in two days, aiming to raise $300,000 for, and awareness of, youth mental health.

The walk is a fundraiser of the Love Me Love You Foundation, which was founded by former Kerang footballer Lance Picioane, who fought anxiety and depression during his 77-game AFL career.
