Local colours are abundant

KERANG’S colours have many hues.

They are vibrant, they are dramatic. In contrast, some are subdued.

They are the product of many distinct hands, the creation of many different minds.

A myriad of designs and many splashes of colour will be on show for two days during the Easter holiday weekend.

Kerang Quilters are presenting their latest offering of Colours of Kerang on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16.

About 150 quilts of varied dimensions will exhibited by the group’s 35 members at the Kerang Memorial Hall.

Feature quilt artists, Beth and Trevor Reid will bring 14 large quilts, a few small creations and a unique stockman’s coat.

The Canberra husband-and-wife team have been collaborating in their chosen craft for 27 years.

Kerang Quilters stage an exhibition at Easter every three years. The group has raised about $10,500 for local charities, including the district flood appeal and Kerang District Health’s oncology unit.

A vivid multi-coloured quilt made by a former member and quilted by current members is the exhibition raffle prize. The beneficiary is yet to be determined.

Kerang Quilters meets at the fire station on the first and third Thursday between 1pm and 5pm and on the third Saturday each month.
