CMFNL – Locals undefeated

KERANG and the Cohuna Kangas remain undefeated after three rounds of the Central Murray Football Netball League season.

The Blues handled the muddy conditions at Riverside Park better than fellow 2016 grand finalists, Nyah-Nyah West United in a 40-point win, whilst the Kangas defeated Lake Boga by 44 points.

In the match of the round at Kerang, it was the Demons who controlled play in the opening half to lead by six points at the main break.

However, Kerang’s midfielders and defenders limited the visitors to one behind in the second quarter to remain on top of the ladder.

Caleb Nitschke and Luke Cotchett kicked two goals each for the five-time defending premiers, who face Lake Boga this weekend.

The Magpies go into the match 0-2 after losing to the Kangas at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve.

Brett Collins (eight goals) and Harrison Keely (four goals) had another day out in the Kangas’ forward line, turning a level opening term into a third win of the season.

The Kangas face a challenge this weekend when the side hosts Swan Hill.

Meanwhile, Koondrook/Barham fell to eighth on the ladder following a 38-point loss to Woorinen.

The Raiders managed three goalkickers for the game – led by three majors from Daniel Mowat – as the Tigers ran away with the game in the second half.

The border side will look to bounce back this weekend with a win against the winless Balranald.
